July 24, 2019

The Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive kicked off the 2019 Hamilton County Fair grandstand events with Wild Card Wednesday and a full night of racing at the historic half-mile clay oval.

The Super Late Models presented by Malvern Bank saw Charlie McKenna of Ames get his third win of the season as he held off a pair of Webster City racers in last Saturday’s winner, Ryan Griffith, and third-place finisher Jason Hahne.

In Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series action, Mark Elliott of Webster City returned to the Integrity Trucking Victory Lane in the Olsen Family USRA Modified division with Saturday’s winner, Tim Ward of Chandler, Ariz., garnering the runner-up paycheck ahead of points leader J.D. Auringer of Waterloo.

Nashua’s Jesse Brown bested the boss, Todd Staley, to pick up the win in the Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Car feature race. Another Webster City pilot, Reid Keller, claimed the third spot on the podium.

The Stein Heating & Cooling USRA B-Mods saw Webster City’s Ty Griffith continue his winning ways with Brandon Toftee of Otho and Nate Whitehurst of Mason City rounding out the top three finishers.

Meanwhile, Scott Dobel of Manly came from the seventh starting spot to win the Diamond in the Rough USRA Hobby Stock main event, holding off defending USRA National Champion Dustin Gulbrandson of Sioux Falls, S.D., who started 11th, and 17th-starting Daniel Ayers of Webster City.

Finally, in the MyRacePass.Com USRA Tuners it was Fort Dodge driver Matt Oberhelman capturing the checkered flag while Allison’s Trevor Forey and Sam Umbarger of Garner wound up second and third, respectively.
