World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series invades Webster City, Mason City this week

The star-studded World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series will invade two historic Iowa race tracks this Thursday and Friday, July 7-8.

The Outlaws will see action at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City on Thursday and then head north to the Mason City Motor Speedway on Friday.

The two historic half-mile dirt ovals are new additions to the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series slate, and all-time track records are expected to fall during both blockbuster events.

Three-time series champ and current points leader Josh Richards of Shinnston, W. Va., leads a field of talented superstars into the Hawkeye State doubleheader. Others expected to compete for the checkered flag include Shane Clanton, Rick Eckert, Brandon Overton, Brian Shirley, Billy Moyer Jr., Steve Casebolt, Chub Frank, Frank Heckenast Jr. and Morgan Bagley.

Also, multi-time World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and Knoxville Nationals champion Donny Schatz will also be in competition behind his full-fendered Outlaw late model.

The USRA Iron Man Series featuring Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will round out the three-star program each night.

General admission tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the gate. Juniors ages 11-16 and Seniors 65 and older are just $15. Children ages 10 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $40.

Advance tickets for both shows are available by calling (515) 832-6000 or at the USRA offices located at 1715 West 2nd Street in Webster City from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Tickets for the Mason City event are also available for purchase at Rookies Rockin’ Sports Bar located at 307 Main Avenue in Clear Lake through Thursday night.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30 p.m. both nights.

The Hamilton County Speedway is a half-mile semi-banked dirt oval located off of US 20 at exit 140, then 1.2 miles north, then 0.5 mile east on Bank St., then 0.4 mile south on Bluff Street. For more information, check out www.hamiltoncospeedway.com on the World Wide Web.
