Mike Baker Memorial Race Make-Up Date

July 9, 2024

The Hamilton County Speedway officials, with Kathy Baker and family, have decided on a makeup date for the Mike Baker Memorial Race. The race will run with Kid's Night at the Fair Races + HCSRA Hall of Fame Night presented by Good Life RV on Saturday, July 27. This event will be a complete show. Even if you were not there to compete on July 6, you will be eligible to race this event on July 27.

Classes featured will include the Olsen Family USRA Modifieds, Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Cars, Stein Heating & Cooling USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks, A1 Automotive USRA Tuners, and Crown Vics. The Mike Baker Family raised $5700, which will go to each division payout, just as it was on the July 6 event that fell to Mother Nature.

"We tried hard to get the races in, but unfortunately, things didn't go as planned," said Todd Staley, promoter of HCS. "I enjoyed working with Mike when he was alive, and I am enjoying working with Kathy on this event. She and her family have worked hard to bring extra money to the drivers. I was happy with the car count and the fans attending on July 6. We will, of course, be honoring any ticket or pit pass from July 6 returned to the gate on July 27. As announced, if you do not have your ticket or pit pass, no credit will be given, and you will be required to purchase another ticket or pit pass," concluded Todd.

Saturday, July 27, will be a big night for drivers and fans at HCS. The payout alone is one reason drivers should attend this event. The USRA Stock Car division will pay $200 to start! The racing action is the other reason drivers must make this event. HCS has had a great racing surface all year, making for competitive racing that everyone loves.

The night will begin at 4:00 PM with a driver autograph session north of the ticket booth. Pit gates will open at 3:30, thirty (30) minutes earlier than scheduled, to allow drivers to park, purchase their pit pass, and drive to the grandstand area for an autograph session. Drivers are encouraged to bring Hero Cards and permanent markers.

Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 PM. Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults (17-61), $12 for seniors (62+), $12 for military, $8 for juniors (12-16), and kids 11 & under are free. Pit pass admission is $35 for adults and $20 for youth. Happy Hour will kick off at 6:00 PM. Racing action will start at approximately 7:30 PM.

Every kid, 11 & under, will receive a FREE raffle ticket for a chance at winning a bike. This event is our Kid's Night BIG BIKE GIVEAWAY: WIN A BRAND NEW BICYCLE! Our goal is to give away 50 bikes during this event. HCS is still accepting monetary donations or bike donations. If you or your business chooses to donate money to this event, we ask that payment be mailed or dropped off at the office by Monday, July 22.

Office location: 1715 W. 2nd St., Webster City
Mailing address: P.O. Box 905 Webster City, IA. 50595

A candy and coin toss will occur behind the VIP booth during intermission. The HCSRA Hall of Fame Inductions will also occur during intermission on the stage. This year's inductees are Paul "Spike" Atchison, Rich Ayers, Bruce Mark, Tim McKinney, and Kelly Tapper.

"To all individuals and businesses who donated money to the Mike Baker Memorial Race, thank you! It will be a great night of affordable family fun with great racing action, so we hope to see everyone at the track on Saturday, July 27," commented Staley.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at the gate or online at www.hamiltoncospeedway.com/tickets.
