Boone River Bayou postponed to June 26-27

June 18, 2018

Officials at the Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive have postponed this week’s Boone River Bayou Dirt Track Championships to next Tuesday and Wednesday, June 26-27.

Everything else—times, prices and order of events—remains unchanged, except for a few sponsors that have stepped up to make the show even more lucrative for competitors.

Last year's attempted launch of the inaugural event was washed out by Mother Nature, but once again the nation’s best drivers in four classes will be battling for some incredible paydays at the historic half-mile in Webster City, Iowa.

Both nights will be two complete shows for the popular Iron Man Challenge featuring Seneca Foundry USRA Stock Cars and Stein Heating & Cooling USRA B-Mods, along with Diamond in the Rough USRA Hobby Stocks both nights too.

Tuesday’s preliminaries will see the Stock Car winner taking home $700, the B-Mod winner $600 and the Hobby Stock feature winner will pocket $500. The top eight finishers in each class locked into Wednesday’s championship main events.

USRA Tuners will also run a complete show on Tuesday only with a $300 top prize up for grabs for the sport compact four-cylinder racers. Oberhelman Motorsports has kicked in an extra $200, bringing the winner’s share up from the original $200-to-win amount. Each of the drivers finishing second through sixth will also get an extra $20 bonus.

Also on Tuesday will be the King of the Hill match races for Stock Cars, B-Mods and Hobby Stocks. Two cars will battle for two green-white-checkered laps with the winner advancing to the next round and the loser packing his or her bags. The entry fee is $50 for Stock Cars or B-Mods and $25 for Hobby Stocks. The winner in each class takes the entire pot in each class. The King of the Hill races will be run after the features are completed on Tuesday night. Drivers will draw for their opponent.

Big bucks and bragging rights are up for grabs on Wednesday during the championship night of the Boone River Bayou Dirt Track Championships. Stock Cars will compete for a $2,500 top prize while B-Mod drivers will duke it out for $2,000 to win and Hobby Stocks for $1,200 to win.

Opening in July 1910, the Hamilton County Speedway is the oldest speedway in the state of Iowa. In 1938, work began on the current location at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The semi-banked half-mile dirt track was completed in the spring of 1939, and the first races were held on the track in September of that year.

The Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive is located off of US 20 at exit 140, then 1.2 miles north, then 0.5 mile east on Bank St., then 0.4 mile south on Bluff St. in Webster City, Iowa (1200 Bluff St, Webster City, IA 50595) at the historic Hamilton County Fairgrounds.
